Markets expanding

Farmers markets in both Chimacum and Port Townsend are expanding this year.

Bergeron announced on Saturday that starting in May, the Chimacum Farmers Market would be under the umbrella of the Jefferson County Farmers Market, which runs the Port Townsend Farmers Market. Although it has yet to find an official place to call home, Bergeron said the Chimacum market has outgrown the space at Chimacum Grange and could move over to the Chimacum School grounds.

“It will be bigger and have more this year,” Bergeron said. The Chimacum market debuts on Sunday, May 16, and will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Port Townsend market opens on Saturday, May 1, and remains in Uptown between Lawrence and Clay streets. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., a full hour longer than in the past.
