PT Market to celebrate Farmers Market Week

PT Market to celebrate Farmers Market Week: "The Port Townsend Farmers Market joins more than 100 markets across the state in celebrating Washington State Farmers Market Week, Aug. 3-9.

Events kick off at the Wednesday market Aug. 6 with a 3:30 p.m. cooking demonstration by local chef Arran Stark of Cultivated Palette. Shoppers have the opportunity to learn a new recipe and meet the first of five 'challenges' that encourage exploration of local food issues during the week.

The Farmers Market Week shopper challenges encourage shoppers to tally how much of their weekly food budget goes directly to growers, try new produce or a recipe, explore food preservation, shop with reusable bags, and thank growers in person during the week. Locals are encouraged to represent Port Townsend by sending photos and descriptions of how they met a challenge to the Washington State Farmers Market Association and enter to a win a basket of market goods."
